Thumb Update
My thumb is much better. Thankfully it doesn't look like amputation is required, so I am looking forward to resuming full thumb operational capability in a couple of days. I would like to say thanks for all the messages of concern, but unfortunately I can't, because there haven't been any.
I went to the Doctor today, not about the thumb, but about other unrelated matters. I was quite alarmed when she had to use wikipedia to diagnose this weird thing that's happening with my leg. She is a very nice doctor though, so I willingly agreed to undergo some tests, which will hopefully confirm the wikipedia consultation...although I may have to ask for a second opinion. I guess I'll just have to see what else comes up on Google. I am not going to say what the weird leg thing involves. By even mentioning it I have probably said too much, but rest assured if there are developments I will keep you updated. Bye I have a sore thumb.
Yes, my thumb is sore. I am unaccustomed to suffering any kind of injury, as I don't do any exercise precisely to avoid such a circumstance. This has thrown me off-kilter, and I have been unable to concentrate all day. It's amazing how often you use your thumbs. The thumb I have hurt is the one on my left hand. I am right handed, so I automatically assumed that the thumb injury situation would be a minor inconvenience, but this is not the case. I have found myself using my left thumb for all sorts of things over the past few days, and then silently cursing when it hurts. I am obviously too much of a man to show any outward signs of pain, but inside I am in torment and anguish. This can not continue for much longer. For starters I cannot play the guitar, and that fact is compounded by the thumb situation as I cannot even hold the thing. I am trying to think of instruments I could play with one hand (if the worst comes to the worst and my thumb has to be amputated). I suppose I could play the gong. You only need one hand for that, right, unless it's a very big gong. Those big gongs need two hands to wield the gong hitting stick (I'm sure that's the technical term for it), so I would have to confine myself to the small gongs, but that's OK.
Well, this has been my first blog post on shambolicfools.com. I may keep you updated on the thumb business, but it's also likely that the next post will be about chickens. I like chickens. Richie |
